FBA Earned Prestigious EQUIS Re-accreditation for Next 3 Years
The Faculty of Business Administration /FBA/ successfully passed the EQUIS reaccreditation process and remains the only faculty in the Czech Republic with this prestigious international institutional accreditation. The certification has been granted for another 3 years.
CEMS VSE Triumphed in Cairo And Won CEMS School of the Year 2022
The CEMS Annual Events 2022, held in Cairo, Egypt, marked a special milestone for the CEMS MIM Programme offered at the Faculty of Business Administration of Prague University of Economics and Business. Based on an overall comprehensive student satisfaction survey and by a vote by the academic directors from the CEMS schools, the programme brought VSE the prestigious CEMS School of the Year 2021/22 Award!
What is more, the happiness was triple, as the Awards Ceremony landed the Programme in 1st place on two more occasions:
- Best School of the Year 2021/22
- Global Strategy Course of the Year (for International Strategy taught by Academic Director Ladislav Tyll)
- CEMS Junior Alumni of the Year 2022 for our 2019 CEMS alumna Kate Zhuzha
Arts Management Programme Defended 7th Place in the Eduniversal Ranking
Arts Management programme taught at Faculty of Business Administration defended 7th place in prestigious Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking (Cultural Management / Creative industries Management). The programme ranked among such schools as Erasmus University Rotterdam School of History Culture and Communication, SDA Bocconi School of Management or HEC Paris.
FBA’s Master in International Management/CEMS Made TOP 25 in Financial Times Masters in Management 2022
This year, in that “Financial Times Masters in Management 2022” ranking race, the Master in International Management (CEMS) program taught in English at the Faculty of Business Administration made the TOP 25 list, ending 25th. Prague University of Economics and Business thus places among the best business courses worldwide.
Financial Times: VŠE Represented by FBA Was Rated 62nd Best European Business School
The Financial Times published its annual European Business School Rankings 2022, listing this year’s top 95 European schools. The Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE), represented by the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), is ranked 62nd.
This was the annual ranking’s 19th edition, based on data provided by universities and their alumni. For VŠE, the data was provided by the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA).
New Double-Degree Possibility for MIMG Students with the ZHAW, School of Management and Law, Switzerland
Starting from the Academic Year 2022/2023, the qualified MIMG candidates will now be able to spend their second year at the partnering host institution of ZHAW, School of Management and Law, SUI, and earn their double Master’s degree as part of the newly landed double-degree programme delivered in English.

Teacher of the Year for FBA went to Dr. Marcela Palíšková
The top three educators for each faculty were identified and the winners for each faculty were announced by the Rector. Dr. Palíšková from the Department of Human Resource Management was awarded the Teacher of the Year for FBA. The award was also given to assoc. prof. Daniela Pauknerová and prof. Ivan Nový.

The Department of Logistics Acts as an Audit Ccentre for the European Efficient Consumer Response (ECR)/GS-1 Initiative in the Czech Republic
The Department of Logistics at FBA acts as an audit centre for the European initiative Efficient Consumer Response (ECR)/GS-1 in the Czech Republic in connection with the European Lean & Green programme.
The aim of the Lean & Green programme is to communicate the issue of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas reduction in the logistics sector.
Two New Associate Professors at FBA: David Říha and Štěpán Bahník
Associate Professor David Říha from the Department of Marketing at FBA defended his habilitation thesis on “Effectiveness of selected marketing communication tools in supporting the sales process and creating customer relationships” on 15 June 2022. He was appointed Associate Professor in Management and Managerial Economics with effect from 1 August 2022.
Associate Professor Štěpán Bahník from the Department of Management at FBA defended his habilitation thesis on “The anchoring effect in business” on 16 November 2022. He was appointed Associate Professor in Management and Managerial Economics with effect from 1 January 2023.
Top-rated Teachers and Subjects for 2022
The Dean of FBA awarded the top-rated teachers and courses. The three highest-rated FBA teachers for 2022 are Dr. Michal Andera (Department of Entrepreneurship), Dr. David Šmíd (Department of Human Resource Management), and Dr. Marek Novinský (Department of Marketing). The two highest-rated compulsory FBA courses for 2022 are 3MA390 Project Management in the Arts and Cultural Sector – Department of Management, taught by Dr. Jiří Hájek, Ing. Tomáš Zatloukal, Ing. Karel Pešata, and 3AM437 Managerial game – Department of Arts Management, taught by Dr. Milan Lindner.
Prof. Eva Kislingerová Received the Dean's Award for Lifetime Contribution
Prof. Eva Kislingerová received the Dean’s Award for Lifetime Contribution at the Scientific Council on 21 June 2023.
Assoc. prof. Tomáš Pavelka Was Appointed a Member of the Czech Statistical Council
Associate Professor Tomáš Pavelka, Head of the Department of Managerial Economics at FBA, has been appointed a member of the Czech Statistical Office by the President of the Czech Statistical Office, Dr. Marek Rojíček, as of 1 June 2023.
Assoc. prof. Ladislav Tyll Again Re-elected as Deputy Chairman of the CEMS Academic Committee
Yet again, the CEMS VSE Academic Director, Ladislav Tyll, MBA, PhD, has been re-elected as Deputy Chair of the CEMS Academic Committee, making it his third consecutive time as Deputy Chair! The elections take place every two years; this time, the meeting was held in Ithaca at Cornell SC Johnson College of Business during the Academic Committee meeting.
Dr. David Anthony Procházka Successfully Passed the English Language Exam according to NATO Standard STANAG 6001
Dr. Procházka from the Department of Management achieved level 3 (Professional) in all activity groups, while NATO STANAG 6001 Edition 5 describes in detail the language levels 0 – 5.
NATO STANAG 6001 is a standardisation agreement designed to serve the purposes of language training and measurement of language proficiency in NATO member countries.
Assoc. prof. Ondřej Dvouletý received the "European Microfinance Research Award"
He recieved the award for the research article “Performance of microfinance institutions in Europe-Does social capital matter?” published in 2019 in the international research journal Socio-Economic Planning Sciences. The main author of the article is Assoc. prof. Gabriela Chmelíková from the Mendel University in Brno and the co-authors are Assoc. prof. Ondřej Dvouletý from the Department of Entrepreneurship at FBA and Dr. Annette Krauss from the University of Zurich.

Assoc. Prof. Zuzana Chytková Published an Article in the Prestigious Journal of Consumer Research
Associate Professor Zuzana Chytková from the Department of Marketing published an article “Dominated Cosmopolitanism: Consumer Habitus Dynamics among Low-Resource Migrants“ in the prestigious Journal of Consumer Research. This journal is on the list of top 30 scholarly journals in the field of business and also on the Financial Times 50 list. The Impact Factor (IF) of the Journal of Consumer Research is 8.6, the 5-year IF is 11.1.
Assoc. prof. Ondřej Dvouletý Contributed to the New OECD Framework for the Evaluation of SME and Entrepreneurship Policies and Programmes
The OECD has published a new methodological framework for the evaluation of SME and entrepreneurship policies and programmes. Associate Professor Ondřej Dvouletý from the Department of Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Business Administration participated in its development. Other members of the author team include Jonathan Potter (Head, Entrepreneurship Policy and Analysis Unit, CFE, OECD), David Storey (University of Sussex) and Pablo Shah (OECD/CFE).
Dr. Štěpán Bahník and Dr. Matěj Lorko Succeeded with Their Projects in the GAČR Competition
GAČR supports basic research across all scientific disciplines. It is the only organization of this type with this mission in the Czech Republic, and the awarding of its grants is considered a sign of quality scientific and research work.
The following two projects were successful for our faculty:
- Why does a crow never sit next to a crow? Imperfect Selection of Cheaters into Cheating Environments (2023-2025)
- Investigator Mgr. et Mgr. Ing. Štěpán Bahník, Ph.D. from the Department of Management
- The project aims to investigate, using laboratory experiments, what social factors limit the selection of dishonest individuals into an environment that allows cheating.
- Three Experiments on Using Salience for Sustainable Tax Compliance (2023-2025)
- Investigator Ing. Matej Lorko, Ph.D. from the Department of Managerial Economics
- The aim is to comprehensively explore the causal effects and disentangle the channels of action of several tax compliance interventions using two controlled laboratory experiments and one natural field experiment.
The Department of Logistics Has One of the Most Important Contract Rresearch Projects at FBA
Since November 2017, members of the Department of Logistics have been working on a project for ORLEN Unipetrol RPA. This is a multi-phase project under the overall title “Petrochemical Logistics – Intermodal Distribution Network for Polyolefins – The Study Phase”, in which the Department is developing the concept of intermodal distribution of polyolefins and related services.

CEMS Club Prague Voted Best CEMS Club of Winter Semester 2022
On Saturday, March 11, 2023, the Best CEMS Clubs of the Winter Semester 2022/23 were announced by the Student Board Representatives in cooperation with the CEMS Global Office at the CEMS Club Presidential Conference in Rotterdam. Based on their cohort’s voting and the Best Practices they handed in, CEMS Club Prague secured the first position.
CEMS Student Lukas Pivarník Wins Startup VSE Contest with his Project HIIT Soccer
CEMS student Lukas Pivarník won with his project HIIT Soccer in the Startup VSE competition organized by the Department of Entrepreneurship of FPH together with the business accelerator xPORT VŠE and the VSE Event Center.
The HIIT Soccer application (a Youth soccer development platform) targets the US market. What it does is it helps coaches and players to practise off the pitch and make team sessions more efficient. The app offers a rich volume of training video content, with players completing their workouts as assigned by their coach. The coach then evaluates the analytical information provided by HIIT Soccer.
Student of Master in Management Programme Christyn Li Ling Chew Was Awarded Professor Miroslav Vlček Scholarship
Professor Miroslav Vlček Scholarship is awarded annualy to a foreign student enrolled in an international degree programme. The student, in addition to fulfilling her/his study duties, must have contributed to the dissemination of the reputation of VŠE in the Czech Republic and abroad, motivated foreign candidates to apply to study in Prague, as well as actively involved her/himself in research, educational or other activities for the benefit of foreign students of VŠE.
This year, the scholarship has been awarded to Christyn Li Ling Chew, a student of Master in Management programme (MIMG) at the Faculty of Business Administration.
CEMS Student Simon Senčar Receives Josef Hlávka Prize
Simon Senčar won the Josef Hlávka Prize bestowed upon the best students and graduates of Prague public universities, Brno University of Technology and young talented workers of the Czech Academy of Sciences! Simon is a graduate of the Bachelor of Business Economics and Management programme and is now continuing his studies in the MIM/CEMS programme, this year’s CEMS School of the Year.
The Josef Hlávka Prize, under the auspices of the Hlávka Foundation, is awarded annually to talented Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and creative thinking in their field.
CEMS Alumna Kate Zhuzha Wins 2022 CEMS Junior Alumni of the Year
Kate Zhuzha won the category Junior Alumni in the 2022 CEMS Alumni of the Year, awards presented annually to outstanding alumni in recognition of excellent contributions to promote one or many of the CEMS values based on the 5 important parameters: Global Citizenship, Cultural Diversity, Professional Responsibility, Professional Accountability and Impact on society as a whole.
Minor Specialization Project Management Student Team Won the National Round of Project Management Championship 2023
The team of students of the minor specialization Project Management consisting of Jana Loudová (FBA), Jana Fišerová (FIR), Dominik Jeřábek (FE) and Martin Klouček (FBA) took 1st place in the national round of the Project Management Championship 2023.
The First Student in the DBA Programme, Nils Katzorke, Has Successfully Defended a Doctoral Thesis
In February 2023, Nils Katzorke from Germany defended his final thesis on “Effective Test Infrastructure Design in the Context of Autonomous Driving” and thus became the first ever graduate of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at the Faculty of Business Administration.
FBA Students Won PwC Consulting Challege Competition
University students had the opportunity to experience what the work of a consultant is all about in the PwC Consulting Challege Competition. This year PwC collaborated with StartupJobs and the case study topic was on “How to build StartupJobs for Gen Z and get 10,000 Gen Z users”.
The winner was the Pied Piper team consisting of students of FBA Tomáš Jindra and Jakub Kříž.
Arts Management Programme Students Opened the Postoj Gallery
Filip Kolář, Karolína Špundová and Otakar Šubrt – three classmates who met while studying Arts Management at FBA – opened a gallery in a public space. It presents contemporary art, which is exhibited in the building of the original exchange and betting office in the lobby of the Náměstí Republiky metro station. The aim of the Postoj Gallery is to make contemporary art accessible to all interested visitors or passers-by in a way that communicates in an understandable form of curatorial language.
FBA Students Won the Masters of Marketing Competition
At the beginning of November 2022, Unilever hosted the final of the fourth annual Masters of Marketing competitions for young marketers, co-organised by the Department of Marketing.
The winning team 2-a-pol-Slovaka consisted of FBA students Viktória Čelovská, Anna Rychetská and Marek Kosina.
