FBA Earns Prestigious EQUIS Re-accreditation For the Next 3 Years
The Faculty of Business Administration /FBA/ has successfully passed the EQUIS reaccreditation process and remains the only faculty in the Czech Republic with this prestigious international institutional accreditation. The certification has been granted for another 3 years.
The faculty thus claims its turf alongside the best business schools such as HEC Paris, London Business School, ESADE Business School or the University of St. Gallen. With EQUIS accreditation only awarded to 1% of faculties out of about 15,000 business schools or faculties globally, this is a significant achievement of the faculty.
The faculty received EQUIS accreditation in 2017 for three years. In 2020, it defended the reaccreditation for the following 3 years. After that, another reaccreditation process was started in 2022. As part of this process, an EQUIS Peer Review Team consisting of Prof. Julia Balogun (Dean, The University of Liverpool Management School, UK and Chair of the PRT), Prof. Frank Pons (Faculté des Sciences de l’Administration Université Laval, Canada), Dr Jean-Philippe Ammeux (IÉSEG School of Management Lille-Paris, Francie), Mr Allan Mitchell (Senior Business Advisor, Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) Ltd, UK), aimed to assess whether the faculty meets the requirements to be EQUIS re-accreditation worthy. The committee evaluated the faculty’s self-assessment report and conducted in-depth interviews with the faculty and VSE management, staff, students, alumni and corporate partners.
In the evaluation report, the committee particularly highlighted the faculty’s highly superior links to practice and the academic community’s strong identification with the faculty. At the same time, the commission recommended that the faculty define its strengths more clearly compared to foreign competitors.
The EQUIS Accreditation Council decided on the reaccreditation in our favour at its meeting on May 3, 2023.
prof. Ing. Jiří Hnilica, Ph.D., Dean of FBA
“We are thrilled to have received the prestigious EQUIS reaccreditation, as it underscores our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement.
The recognition holds incredible importance to us, especially in terms of international exposure and the visibility of our quality. It reinforces our position as a faculty – we are significantly more and better perceived when international students decide to study here or when academics from abroad decide to work here. And this means, as a result, to be a school that fulfils its vision – to become the top reference higher education institution for the management field in Europe.”
The EFMD only awards the EQUIS accreditation to faculties with excellent teaching, high-quality research, a high degree of internationalisation and strong links with practice. The primary goal of the accreditation is to improve the quality of management education worldwide. EQUIS strives to balance high academic quality and professional relevance, ensured by close collaboration with practice. Among other things, faculty management processes, the quality of the curriculum, the quality of the learning process, the quality of academic staff, the quality of research activities, the quality of executive education, financial management, the ethical dimension of education, international overlap or interconnectedness with the corporate world are evaluated.
