Study obligations (MMEE)

Study obligations include completing:

Completion of courses represents the passing of four examinations in individual compulsory, compulsory-elective or optional subjects during the first year. Full-time doctoral students must also complete a Course of Development of Pedagogical and Socio-psychological Skills for PhD Students and Academic Staff of the Prague University of Economics and Business, organized for the purpose of preparation for their own teaching. Another study obligation is the successful completion of the department (in the first year) and subsequently also the faculty colloquium (in the second year). You can learn more about colloquia here.

After successfully mastering individual courses and the first publishing activity, doctoral students can apply for the State Doctoral Examination (3SDZCZ) at the end of the second year at the latest, during which they demonstrate the degree of mastery of independent scientific work and application of new knowledge, theoretical knowledge in the field of their dissertation. anchoring and thesis of his dissertation and presents the results of his current research activities. In the fourth year, it is first necessary to complete a small defense (more detailed information can be found here), in which an already completed version of the dissertation is submitted. Only after its successful mastery and fulfillment of all study obligations is it possible to apply for a big defense of the dissertation (it is de facto a course 3ODPCZ). During the study, the doctoral student is obliged to obtain 100 points, of which a maximum of 50 can be obtained through the study of other courses, seminars, professional workshops or through the acquisition of scientific projects. Specifically, in the study area, the following points are met:

  • completion of another doctoral course at FBA or other faculties of the Prague University of Economics and Business: 10 points,
  • completion of methodological seminars or pre-conference workshops: 2 points / day,
  • participation in a research club organized by FBA: 1 point,
  • participation in the faculty colloquium: 1 point

Deadlines for fulfilling study obligations are set by the Study and Examination Regulations of the Prague University of Economics and Business and PhD Student Standard.
