State doctoral examination (PEME)
According to the Dean’s Order N3/17 of 3. 4. 2017 and Dean’s Order N1/14 of 10. 09. 2014 the obligation of the second year is to successfully pass the doctoral state examination. To be admitted to the state doctoral examination, a doctoral student must have demonstrable publishing activity registered in database PCVSE.
The state doctoral examination examines the knowledge of the doctoral student with an emphasis on areas on which the dissertation is focused. Part of the exam is the defense of initial parts of the dissertation thesis. The student demonstrates the degree of mastery of broader theoretical knowledge, methods of independent scientific work and ways of applying new knowledge in this study program.
Application takes place by submitting all background materials to the study officer at least 4 weeks before the state exam. It is necessary to have completed the first part of the dissertation, about 40 pages, and to have at least one scholarly publication in the database of publishing activities of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Part of the application for the state doctoral examination is an overview of publishing activities and the supervisor’s report on the student’s scientific activities, which must then be approved by the guarantor of the relevant study program.
Registration for the exam takes place at least 4 weeks prior to the state examination. The date of exam is then determined on the basis of the committee members’ availability.
Regarding the documents, it is necessary to bring:
- a completed application for the SDE (application form [doc]),
- 3 copies of the dissertation in the extent of at about 40 pages (signed by the student),
- the supervisor’s report on the course of study and a list of publishing activities (signed by both supervisor and student) example [doc].
