Management Summary Research Study “Development of Sugarcane Production by the World’s Largest Producers “

The paper focused on sugarcane production in the three largest growing regions (Brazil, India, and China) from 2012-2020. The aim was to define the factors that could influence the production of sugar cane, which can be reflected in the volume of offered sugar and ethanol on the market (this is related to the development of the price on the markets). Based on the description of production issues in individual growing areas, it was detected that specific factors influenced sugarcane production.

These factors could include (1) weather, (2) age of sugar cane fields, (3) demand for sugar (may affect the proportion of sugar cane that will be directed to sugar and ethanol production), (4) limited financial resources and investment in the industry, (5) global issues (price wars between countries, pandemics), (6) crop management efficiency, (7) profitability of alternative crops, (8) production and labor costs, (9) government support for the industry ( e.g., subsidies), (10) development of world sugar prices, (11) possibilities and level of mechanization in the sector, (12) sugarcane quality (related sugar content of sugarcane), (13) import policy, (14) policy in the area of supplies, (15) urbanization and (16) government measures (setting purchase prices, taxes).
