Management Summary Research Study “Societal Culture in Slavic Nations: Effects of Historical Events”

The study examines cultural values in the societies of seven Slavic nations using Hofstede’s Value Survey Module 2008. It focuses on the differences and similarities between three Slavic tribes: Southern (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia), Western (Czech Republic, Poland), and Eastern (Russia). The data collected from 2,553 participants show significant cultural differences between the countries and certain patterns of similarity, particularly between Western and Southern Slavs.

The findings have significant practical implications for international business and organizational management. Integration into communities such as the EU and NATO has led to the adoption of Western values among Slavic nations, subsequently influencing leadership and management approaches in these countries. Understanding differences in value perceptions, such as individualism or acceptance of authority, is essential for successful business or trade with these nations. The study provides a platform for future research, which can help tailor management practices and strategies when working in different Slavic countries, thereby increasing the effectiveness and sustainability of international activities.
