At the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), we offer a four-year doctoral program in Management and Managerial Economics. You should enroll for doctoral studies if you want to pursue research or an academic career in the future. Alternatively, you may aim at future career in strategic management and consultancy, where strong analytic skills are required. You will need to have an area of interest that you will devote yourself to. You will also need a strong desire for gaining knowledge and learning new skills. As the only faculty in the Czech Republic, we can take pride in having an internationally recognized EQUIS accreditation. We offer a newly accredited four-year doctoral program Management and Managerial Economics, which, under the guidance of experienced professors and supervisors, provides high quality study and support for own research activities.

We offer a wide variety of specializations such as Entrepreneurship, Family Business, Managerial Decision Making, Marketing, Applied Managerial Economics, Organizational Behavior, Supply Chain Management, Arts Management or HR Management.

The program may be studied either full-time or part-time. Both types are for four years long with the possibility to extend up to five years. Part-time students mainly work on their own doctoral studies, full-time postgraduates also participate in the teaching and operations of the department for which they receive a monthly scholarship (see FAQs for more detail).

2. How to Apply & Conditions for Admission

Crucial for a successful admission is an excellent Research proposal which is prepared in cooperation with a supervisor from FBA whom the applicant chooses and contacts.

The entry exams take place twice a year, in spring and fall. Entry level: Master’s.

3. Scholarship, Tuition Fees & More

The annual tuition fee is 500 EUR. FBA does not provide a special scholarship to cover tuition fees for foreign doctoral students.

4. Study Plan

The STUDY PLAN of the Management and Managerial Economics program consists of three areas, which are 1) Study obligations, 2) Research and publishing activities and 3) Other obligations.

Students must obtain 100 points for the entire study. The distribution into individual years is as follows:

1st year min. 10 points
2nd year min. 30 points
3rd year min. 60 points
and at the end of the 4th year min. 100 points.

STUDY OBLIGATIONS include the successful completion of: Courses, Colloquia, State doctoral examination, Small defense, Big defense, and Other study activities, for which the doctoral student obtains points. For more information see HERE.

RESEARCH AND PUBLISHING ACTIVITIES – Within their studies, doctoral students are required to conduct scientific research activities related to the their dissertations, consisting of participation in research projects and presentations of achieved results in the form of journal publications and conference papers. At least one peer-reviewed scientific article published (or accepted for publication) in a journal indexed in Scopus or Web of Science database, where the doctoral student is the first author, is required. Basic duties of doctoral students result from the Study and Examination Regulations, the main duties are described in the Individual Study Plan created on the basis of the PhD Student Standard.
