Current information for students

Below you will find up-to-date information about courses evaluation, how to excuse courses, about defenses and the final state exams. The decision was adopted by the management of the FBA in the accordance with the decision of the University and the deans of all six faculties based on the decision of the Government of the Czech Republic to release measures in schools and school facilities, business and other activities dated April 14, 2020.

1. The supervisor of the course decides on the form of examination. The conditions will be published by the end of April 2020.

2. If the course has been taught on-line for the whole period of limitation of direct teaching and the character of the course allows it, it is necessary to complete the semester with a mark.

3. The course may be excused only in the following cases:

3.1 If the character of the course does not allow the explanation, understanding and verification of knowledge by different form than active participation in direct teaching (for example skill course, company projects, excursions etc.) and you explicitly request it. The request must be sent by mail (not by phone, Facebook, WhatsApp etc.), the request must be kept by the end of the calendar year.

3.2 If you ask for an excuse because of an individual problem with understanding of online interpretation, even though you were actively involved in the lessons during the time of direct teaching (until 9.3.). The request must be sent by mail (not by phone, Facebook, WhatsApp etc.), the request must be kept by the end of the calendar year.

3.3 If you ask for an excuse because of the inability to attend online lessons due to technical constraints (beyond being able to be online) or stay abroad together with organizational or travel problems. The request must be sent by mail (not by phone, Facebook, WhatsApp etc.), the request must be kept by the end of the calendar year.

In case of excusing the course (especially more courses) it is necessary to take into account the fact that there may be a situation when you do not reach the required minimum of completed credits per semester and consequently the reserve credits will be deducted (see study regulations). Therefore it is also in your interest to minimize the number of excused credits / courses.

In all the above cases, the supervisor or lecturer of the course decides on the excuse.

4. From April 20, 2020 (Monday), state final examinations at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level, including defenses of final theses, and comprehensive examinations in minor specializations may be held, while only the necessary number of persons can be present (the maximum number of persons was set by the Government to five).

5. The dates of final examinations are set by individual departments. Students arrive at the school at the scheduled time of the exam and leave the premises of the University immediately. 6. Qualification theses (bachelor’s and master’s) will be submitted only electronically to InSIS according to the approved schedule (13 May 2020). After the submission of the thesis, the student will not print the confirmation from the e-mail about the correct entry of the thesis, but will forward it to the secretary of the department from which the supervisor is from.

7. Individually, it will be possible to visit the library only for the purpose of borrowing study literature. Loans will be available on weekdays exclusively for students and academic staff of the University from 10.00 to 15.00 in the Žižkov library (ID cards will be checked at the entrance to the Old Building). Literature can be returned only to the Bibliobox located in the lobby of the Old Building.

Students may participate in an examination or other activity at VŠE only if the conditions mentioned here are met.
