CEMS Student Succeeded in Global Business Leaders: Business Case Challenge 2016

Global-Leader-Competition_2016Ahmad Miari, CEMS/International Student at the Faculty of Business Administration, who is currently proceeding his term abroad at the CEMS partner university in Japan – KEIO, won the “Audi’s Global Business Leaders: Business Case Challenge, 2016” held at the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan between June 10 – 12, 2016. Ahmad was a member of the winning team KEIO together with colleagues from the Concordia University (Montreal), Cardiff University and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (Koblenz).

After the universities have chosen their representing team, this year the business case challenge had 20 teams which faced the real-life challenges of the oil industry during the competition period of 20 hours. The competing teams acted as management consultants, analysed the case profile, designed business strategies and prepared a 20-minute presentation.

There was a total of 4 division rounds and teams in each division competed against each other. Teams were required to present their case solution to a panel of professional judges in the divisions round. The winner of each division proceeded to the final round. The final round was open to public audience and teams were required to give their presentation to a panel of professional judges. The top three teams will get the opportunity to participate in the Citi – HKUST International Case Competition 2016 and also receive a grand prize of 30, 000 JPY.

Ahmad Miari commented on the result, “I was honoured to represent CEMS in front of many outstanding personalities. It was a challenging task to solve a complex case within 20 hours. Through hard work, fun, focus and strive for excellence my amazing team succeeded in the Business Case Challenge. I am looking forward to further challenges which enable personal and professional development”.
